Hi Phillip, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
I shall create as I speak – Abracadabra – I read this in a book recently and was so inspired when I read this, that I got a tattoo of it! For me, when I put a camera in my hand I know magical things are about to happen. When I read this I knew that it was going to be tattooed on me, and within a month it was! I don’t know where I’m headed next, but I can promise it won’t be boring!

2020 | Thrive Global: “5 Strategies Anyone Can Use To Take Stunning Photos”

Be in a consistent state of learning and self-reinvention. Learn what you like, what you don’t like. Learn what you need, learn what is excess. Learn what makes you happy. Learn what food makes you feel good. Spend so much time exploring yourself that you discover your purpose and begin to live for it. That is called self-love, and once you have it- nothing and no one can take it away. Most of the societal systemic issues we have today stem from a lack of self-love. People spend time comparing instead of improving.”

“My artwork is a testament to being able to do anything you put your mind to, and the positive outcomes of following your passion.  Pursuing your purpose is the most important thing in life and many of us have lost the desire to find out what that is, letting our careers define us. Finding our purpose can only be done by experiencing what life has to offer and listening deep within to what we connect most with. These images are the evidence and result of my journey to do so.”

2020 | Authority Magazine: 5 Strategies anyone can use to take stunning photos" Tips and Stories from the road!

“I put my bags in the taxi and we moved up from the general crowd a bit, over to the other taxi drivers. I launched the drone and got the photo of Spain from Morocco within 10 minutes, bringing it back down and snagging a selfie with all of the taxi drivers. I packed my bag and got into the car to take off to Chefchaouen when all of the sudden people were banging on the windows. It was the police and they were now yelling at my taxi driver in Arabic. Turns out drones are very illegal in Morocco. Someone once flew his drone over the king’s palace, and the king saw it hovering over so he made all drones illegal a few years ago. All of my stuff was removed from the taxi, and we were thrown into the back of a white van with no seats, just metal flooring and driven to the port police office for questioning.

“A past athlete, I was able to repurpose my energy into the creative fields. I’m originally from South Carolina but moved to California shortly after graduating college. I was fortunate enough to get to live in Europe which really helped spark my desire to get out and explore the world.

I remember coming home to Milan after a stopover in Greece thinking – There is no way I’m going back to the States to work a desk job & only getting two weeks of vacation – I’d never get to see it all!”

2018 | SD Voyager - Phillip Silverstein

“In 2015 I booked a trip that would change my life forever. I ventured to Patagonia, Chile, and my neighbor at the time let me borrow his camera. I went down there with no tripod, no additional lenses, and no expectations other than to explore the regions beauty. I came back with the photos, and he told me to hold onto the camera a bit longer.

From there the fire began to spread. I’d get up early to capture sunrises before going to work, and rush to catch the sunset at the end of the day.”
